On of my first projects to work on using Fusion360 was on an automata box. An automata box is a mechanical structure that can tell a story through movements using cams and levers. I wanted to showcase two ice skaters on an ice rink spinning in a circle. However, the basic cams given to us by the professor were not able to turn vertical motion into rotational motion. Using what I have learned, I designed a custom-made sunflower cam that was able to be use to create a rotation. I was one of few in the class that utilized horizontal motion in my automata box and one of fewer who custom designed a cam for this occasion.
As this was one of my first time using Fusion360, I learned how to do many different things. I learned how to add components to an overall model as well as use specific joints to get the motion I wanted. In additon, I learned how to join two componets to move togehter using the cams as connections.
